Re: Speaking Row and Collumn Titles In Excel

Thank you! Laughs I may come whining to you about more in future. You've helped a great deal. I'll try that title thing, Mark. Thanks so much.

Hi Sam,

Another thing you can do that really helps is to program which columns
and/or rows contain titles into the spreadsheet using Excel's naming
function. This is also a feature that enables any spreadsheet author to
make spreadsheets accessible with JAWS.

To use names to define row AND column titles, do the following:
1. Move to the first cell in the column and row containing the titles
(sometimes A1).
2. From the Insert menu, select Name, then select Define
3. Type "Title" and press ENTER.

If you are ONLY using column titles, do the following:
1. Move to the first cell in the column containing the titles.
2. From the Insert menu, select Name, then select Define
3. Type "ColumnTitle" and press ENTER.
4. Likewise, if only using row titles, type "RowTitle" instead and
press ENTER.

If you are using Regions, that is more than set of data on a single sheet,
then let me know and I'll send you the instructions for defining multiple
column/row titles.

Hope this helps, Mark

Subject: Speaking Row and Collumn Titles In Excel

Hi, I've looked both at excel help and jaws help, and the commands
they give me for reading the title or first cell in a collumn or row
so I know what I'm in if I forget don't work. Now, I'm not certain if
it's the read title command I need or just a command to read the first
cell in both the collumns or rows. Can someone help me with a command
for those please? I do a lot of spreadsheets for different things, and
sometimes it's simply difficult to remember where I am if I take a
break or whatnot.

I'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

Sam
