Thanks Don,
I'll insert that line and give it a go.

Hi Kristeen,

In order to have JAWS running off the on-board sound card (i.e. the RealTech sound card) instead of the SoundBlaster, you must insert the following line into the jfw.ini file of the JAWS version you are using:

Synth1Port=Realtek HD Audio rear output

This line must be inserted in the new jfw.ini file each time you upgrade to a new version of JAWS; otherwise, JAWS will run off the SoundBlaster card just like everything else on your PC. The line must be inserted just above the first line that starts with Synth2. The path for the jfw.ini file for JAWS 9.0 is:

C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Jaws\9.0\jfw.ini

   Hope this helps,

   Don

Subject: Sound card question

Hello,
I am new to the list and so excuse me if this is a boring and much-covered issue. I have purchased a Soundblaster type of internal sound card for my desktop computer. The computer is a Dell and its onboard card is a Realtek High Definition Audio. I want to route Jaws so that it comes through that card and all other sound stays with the new Soundblaster. I have tried a couple of suggestions and they didn't work. I know there's a way to do it because I've seen it in a neighbor's computer, but they don't remember how it's done. I looked at their JFW.ini file and I see no reference to it, but that's where they say the modification must go. Could someone advise me, please?
