I would also suggest whilst in the layout screen that you also disable the reading pane as this isn't much use to jaws users, increases the time for moving through the message list with slow connections and can increase the likelyhood of getting a virus.

Hi Dana,

The following assumes that you've got windows live mail 2009 installed. There's
a more recent version - 2011, but Jaws doesn't read this very well at the
moment.

There's a setting for how messages are displayed in the message list which can affect whether jaws says unread, attachment etc when appropriate. The options are automatic, two line view, and one line view. On the automatic setting, which is the default, the message is displayed either as two or one lines, depending on the space available. Jaws can read unread etc with the one line view, but not with the two line view, so it's safest to change this option to one line view.
To do this:
1. Open the layout dialog from the view menu.
2. tab to the message list button, and press space bar.
3. the three options are now displayed. tab to the one line view check box, and press spacebar to check it. Note that visually these options are displayed as
radio buttons, but for some reason they behave like check boxes when using
keyboard navigation.
4. press the ok button.

David.

original message:
I have JAWS 11 installed on a laptop and downloaded windows live mail I have all of my email accounts configured in the software for sure but have no idea what things I need to turn off in the view menus to make this thing a little more
speech friendly.

If someone could be of assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Dana
