Sorry for the ignorance, but what is a soft phone?

Subject: Soft Phones

IP phones... Has anyone had any exposure to soft phones? Do they cause
JAWS any particular problems? Do you need a second sound card
independent of the one JAWS is using? Anything I should be aware of
before telling my employer that I'll have one installed on my Dell
notepad?
Thanks!

Reed
