But, as I recall, when I attempted to follow these instructions, nothing happened. I'll try it again and report what happens this time. ----- Original Message ----- From: "curmudgeon les" <one2three4five6@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 29, 2006 12:28 PM Subject: Re: Selecting non-contiguous names in address book another way, is when you are in the message and then go to the address book from the tools menu is, as you down arrow thru the list of addresses you want to add to be mailed to alt t, for the to field alt c, for the cc field, alt b, for the bcc field a separator will automatically be put between the email addresses ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 29, 2006 11:32 AM Subject: Re: Selecting non-contiguous names in address book thanks for the step by step, Marvin. I know the menus you're referring to, but had never thought about how one would do this from within the Address book. To be honest, when I send one email to a number of people, I just type them into the To field from memory. that doesn't require me to type their actual email addresses, lest you think that I'm performing some prodigious feat of memory. They're all in my address book, and I have auto-complete enabled, so all that's necessary is for me to think of whom I want to include, type one or two letters from their listing in the address book, and after their address completes itself, type a semicolon as the separator and do the same for the next person on my mental list. That said, it's nice to know this can be done as you describe. I want to add one comment It would be helpful to many on this list, I think, to mention that the method you explain for selecting noncontiguous listings is the same standard Windows keyboard method one uses form the keyboard in a files list such as Windows Explorer or My Computer. I hope that is interesting and helpful to some who didn't know this. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marvin Howdershell" <marvinhowdershell@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 29, 2006 11:02 AM Subject: Re: Selecting non-contiguous names in address book The way I do it is as follows: 1. Create a new message. 2. Press alt-t and then r to call up the address book. 3. Tab to the address list. 4. Use the down arrow key to highlight the first desired address. 5. Hold the control key down and press the space bar twice to select the first desired address. I don't know why you have to hit the space bar twice to select the first address, I just know that it has to be done. 6. While continuing to hold down the control key, release the space bar, and use the arrow keys to highlight the next desired address. Use the space bar to select the next desired address. Hit the space bar only once for each address, hitting the space bar the second time will unselect the address. Continue with other addresses if desired. 7. When all desired addresses have been selected, release the control key and tab to the "to" box. Press the space bar . Tab to the list box and you may review the selected addresses. 8. Tab to the "ok" box and press the space bar. 9. Complete the rest of the email in the normal fashion. Good luck.
