Dave,

Many thanks for your very specific (not to mention heartening) comments.
What you say here inclines me all the more to try the Am. Her. rather than
another. However, I'm still curious to know if you have any idea how well
its Jaws-friendliness compares to the Webster's that was under discussion
earlier? Any idea?

Thanks.

Hello Yardbird,

The American Heritage Dictionary is, and has been very accessible to a JAWS
user. There are no scripts necessary. I am not sure why the other reader
has had so much trouble with it's use, but all of that frame creation and
cursor restriction is not required.

When you open the program, the cursor is placed in the field for typing the
word you wish to look up. Just type the word and press the Enter key. JAWS
will automatically read the results, or, you can press Tab one time and use
the arrow keys as you would in most documents to read the resulting
information. Press Tab again to see a list of closely matched words, or
Shift+Tab to return to the edit field for typing a new word. Press Ctrl+D
for the dictionary, and Ctrl+T for the thesaurus.

I and many others have used this dictionary for many years with no problems
or JAWS alterations.

Regards,

Dave
