Brandon,
I understand you're not being argumentative or nasty, as neither am I. But,
believe it or not, I still don't know what you mean. Just believe me that
this is probably the result of our misunderstanding what each other is
saying, which makes it hard for me to figure out whether underneath it is
some basic fact about this Export function that I don't actually understand. That's okay. I don't want to make it an object of pointless discussion, and
I'm sure you know what you mean, yourself. Don't worry about it. Thanks.

Basicly what I meant by that was that I wouldn't care about using a few
megabytes for the address book file, so I wouldn't have to look for the
address book file. I hope this clears things up! I didn't mean anything bad
by it.

Brandon, I was following you right up to the point where you say something
about the size of your hard drive. From the tone of it, I have to guess,
and
I do mean guess, that you're implying that to do it by just copying or
moving the file from one folder to another in Windows Explorer, if you
care
to, requires a huge hard drive? Or..? I really don't get what you mean,.
Would you mind taking a second and saying it differently? If you were to
copy or move your Address Book file from within Windows Explorer, what
would
this have to do with the size of your hard drive? I can't even guess,
actually.

Thank you.

I think it comes down to personal preference. IT's not that I don't know
how
to file manage, but I just prefer to export the file an know where it
saves.
It's not like i have a 10GB hard drive.

But Brandon, if that file already exists, which it does, then what's the
point of using this function from within OE or Outlook? I don't mean I'm
against it; let's not start arguing. I'm really asking, is this just sort
of
a convenience for someone who doesn't know how to do file management in
Windows? Sort of? I still don't get the way in which the word "export" is
being used, frankly. The intuitive thing is to think that must mean
something about sending a copy of the address book to another email
program
so you don't have to recreate it if you're beginning to use another email
program that doesn't work the same way, or something. Anybody know what
I'm
asking? Sorry if it's not well phrased.

basicly you get a save as dialogue where you can specify where to put the file so you can back it up. So it's easy for you to back it up for if you
format, etc. HOpe this explains what you want!

In what sense does this result in "saving" the address book? How does
"export" come to eequate with "save," in this case? What actually
happens,
and where is the Address Book saved, and in what form? Are we just
talking
about the file that the address book is? That would be address book.wab, typed exactly like that, and if you find it, wherever you happen to keep
it
on your hard drive, you can copy it just like any other folder.
Meantime,
the Address Book that you know in Outlook or Outlook Express is saved
every
time you make any changes to it, and by that I mean the file I just
mentioned is updated and saved.

I confess I've never learned the meaning of the concept of "exporting"
and
"importing" email program stuff, but this much is true, that the Address
Book is simply a file.

When the window opens go to the file menue and go to export submenue and press enter, and then press enter on addressbook. I hope this helps you!
