Rhapsody uses mp3 files when you download them from the program. However, they come with the DRM licensing. You can play them in windows media player as long as you have an internet connection for it to check the subscription and allow you to play it. The idea in creating this was to allow on the go content to be played on a voice driven mp3 player. On the go service with Rhapsody is an extra service besides the 9.99 a month. It costs an extra 3 bucks or so and you can download the content to an approved mp3 player. There is a catch for the blind community though. The players that are blind accessible are not voice driven. There is one exception, the iTouch and iPhone application for rhapsody allows access to this content and can be downloaded through an internet connection rather than being directly connected to your computer. I am in the process of testing this though. The license is valid on the device for a month, then you must reconnect it to rhapsody. It is a great way to listen to music mobile for free. The other thing that I am checking out is making a setup program that installs the scripts automatically. However, in the mean time, installation instructions are included with the download.
