Certainly, a "Repair" routine could be designed to prompt you for the
location of the installation archive, just as, as you say, other repair
routines prompt you for the installation Cd.

And why does that preclude them from designing a repair function that can be
simply accessed the way it was before? I lack the technical expertise to
understand this.
Thank you.

It's because FS had to switch to the Windows Installer if they want to keep their product current.

Dana,
Any idea why they would have discontinued the convenient function on the Start/Programs menu that has provided the maintenance and repair services for a couple of versions? This sounds like another awfully silly update error, if it's so.

SORRY! I just double checked, and, indeed, I can't find a repair option, either. Is one supposed to uninstall and re-install?

You can go into Add/Remove Programs, and bring up the installer for JAWS 7.1, from their. It should offer you a repair button.
I can't believe that, being named Tristan, you've never heard of Tristan
and Iseult - the famous lovers out of Arthurian myth, Medieval French
Romance, Wagnerian opera, etc. What aren't they teaching kids these days!
