Hi control shift d does not make changes permanent. All changes maid in
configuration manager are permanent as long as the configuration file is
saved. Making the changes to the default file makes the change global
unless a setting is over written by an application configuration file. An
example is if you have tool tip reading turned on in the default file but
it
turned off in the skype file when ever skype is loaded the tool tips will
be
off.

The directions that Joseph gave are correct. However,he forgot
to say that
when you go to the configuration manager,to set your options,
press control
shift D to open the default.jcf file. Then, the changes you make
will be
permanent. Don't forget to press ctrl plus S to save your
changes before you
exit the configuration manager.

Go to JAWS Window/Menu (JAWS Key plus J) then go to
Utilities/Config
Manager. Then go to Set Options/Vervosity. Depending on what
vervosity
setting you have, select the appropriate button (Beginner,
Intermediate or
Advanced). At the combo box that appears, press END to go to
the bottom
of the list which says "Tool Tip." Press SPACE to check this
item and
press ENTER to save changes. Then go to OK button and press
ENTER. Then

Manager. From
now on JAWS should read tool tips.
