Hi Bruce,
Well, my stance is not meant to try and lower the price,
but instead to not pay in advance for a product that hasn't been produced
yet.
The point here is that, when we purchase SMA's, then they already have our
money, and must produce a new version,
and it has been proven time after time, that these versions are hurried
along to try and justify the money we have given them.
How many stores do you give your money to, in the hopes that they will sell
you something useful to you?
Do you walk in the door and give them some money, and tell them to contact
you when they have the product you want?
I would certainly hope not, I absolutely do not.
It is one thing to pay in advance for a product that exists, and you are
simply waiting for it to be shipped,
but to pay in advance for one which hasn't been produced yet, I don't think
so.
If the upgrades worked properly, then they would be worth $60 per, but since
they don't then, the only savings is realized by the software developer.
Remember, we are financing the development of the software way ahead of
schedule,
so they don't have to tie up their capital, cause they are operating off our
money.

This notion of boycotting never works, just the notion of boycotting
gasoline to lower the price never works. And quite frankly, if I have to
upgrade to Windows Vista at some point, I want to be ready for it and in
the long run the cheapest way to update is to use the SMA method. I have
little time for the boycotters, protest marchers and sign-wavers of this
world because all these techniques tend to garner by way of results is a
false sense of accomplishment.
