Is there a setting in AVG which allows you to temporarily disable AVG? If so, Use that setting. That's what I had to do when removing NOD32 on my system. Even though it may appear that the program is not running, a security program may block its own uninstall unless you can disable it in its own settings. I don't think the MSconfig will help in this situation.

Hello All:I was in a JAWS Tandem session with a client, attempting to help her remove AVG 2011. She's running JAWS 11 on a Windows Vista laptop. We simply cannot get AVG 2011 removed from her system. I went into control panel, then Programs and Features, arrowed down to the AVG 2011 icon and hit alt-f to go to the file menu, then, u for uninstall. The User Account Control came up, and we hit continue on it. The program did not uninstall.I went into msconfig and disabled the program at startup, then, after re-starting the computer, tried uninstalling AVG 2011 again.
