Hi Vicki. I'm not having your particular problem occur, but it does seem to
show that something happened with the upgrade from Jaws 5.10 to 6.0, at
least for you and me. Like you, I did have the text in the file name box
not speak consistently in much earlier versions of Jaws a few years back,
and turning Jaws off and then reloading it would fix that problem for a
brief time. Over time, the newer versions of Jaws seemed to take care of
that problem for me. Of course, the latest version of Jaws has created a
new conflict with reading text in MS Word, unfortunately.

BTW, do you have MS Word 2003 as well? Are you also using Windows XP or an
earlier operating system?

I have a similar problem with Word and 6.0. If I'm writing a new document,
and I try to save it, JAWS won't read the title of my document, so there is
no way to save it without saving using the default name. Once it's saved and
closed, I have to rename the document. I've had other problems with spell
checker that I didn't have in 5.1.

Well, I'll type this sentence, for example, and stop. Then I'd try to read
the current line and only hear Jaws say blank. I'd control + Escape to
refresh the screen which would then allow Jaws to read the current line
until I begin typing once again. Jaws would say blank when I try to read
the current line again.

My view in Word is set at normal and I tried the zoom at both 100% and 75%
with no result. I've turned off screen tips, animations, and the like.
I've maximized the Window as well. I'm stumped on why JFW 5.10 works fine
and 6 does not.

One other thing I forgot to mention before. I have Jaws 6 on two different
computers. This problem isn't occurring on one computer but is on another.
That definitely makes me wonder if it is actually a Jaws problem or not.

Could you tell a bit more about when the problem occurs as I haven't seen
this myself.
