Well, the folders remain after the program is uninstalled. Also,
Windows temporary files are still there... till you delete them.
Given absence of a prior version of JAWS: then find one and install it.
You
may find that the PowerBraille will work with that version of JAWS.
If then still negative with that version, there may be an indication
of a serial-port conflict. But I think it may be a JAWS corrupt driver
issue. (That's what it was in my situation; and we did consider the
possibility of it being a serial port problem; even trying out a
parallel port, but that didn't work either. Only trial and error, and
force-feeding, solved it.)

Thanks but...when we uninstalled JFW 5, we had two options - just JFW 5
or
JFW 5 and connecting software JFW programs and we chose the latter. So,
the
latter ones had nothing to do with the problem.
