Re: Outlook using Word as editor

For those whose version of Word offers this function, it's also possible to
compose a message in Word and, without opening Outlook or Outlook Express
and pasting in the message, to just use the Send option on the Word Files
menu.

First, you have to go into the Word Tools/Options menu to set this up in the
General tab, where you'd check Send Message as Attachment.

Of course, this won't put what you write in the document into the message
body of the email. But the effect is the same one I'm after when I attach a
Word file from within Outlook Express, a common way to send a Word document
without losing its formatting. This allows me to present Word docs to
sighted correspondents as I intend them to appear in every detail, complete
with all the formal advantages of word-processed formatting, such as line
spacing, italics, fonts, and so forth. Of course, this isn't a substitute
method for simply composing an email. But just to mention it.

I'm using office 2003 on a computer running xp home and jaws 4.51 and it
works fine. I use word as my editor for email in outlook all the time.

Subject: Outlook using Word as editor

I received an E-mail from FS today answering some questions I've had
about several problems I've been having with JAWS and Word. One of the
suggestions that I found interesting was that they do not recommend
having MS Word set up as your editor for new messages in Outlook. Does
anyone else find doing so a problem? On one computer having Word as the
editor is a problem for me, but on another computer it works just fine.
Granted, the difference is its Office XP that works fine and Office 2003
that doesn't.
