On the desktop select my computer and press enter on it.

Highlight local disk c then do an alt enter on it and there you should find
the tools tab

Then do what I said in previous message.

Again forgive my blindness

I have never run a chkdsk on this computer so I guess it is time but I have
a few more questions. I pressed alt enter on my computer and it brought up
a list of tabs but I could not find a tools option, is it under one of the
tabs and if so, which one? Thanks, Judy
