Re: Open book and word

I don't know about your problem, I am using Windows XP, Jaws 6.2 and Open Book 7.02 and I do not have to have open book running the command to scan using open book does it all. The only advantage I have found to scanning with Open Book is that it is faster than the HP scanner and gives you options of scanning for accuracy or for speed. Art

P.S.

Well, I already had Word running, so I opened a new blank document and then
used this command, hoping to scan a printed document on the scanner.
Nothing at all happpend.

Then I wondered if maybe you needed to have Open Book running. I couldn't
guess which program the scan would appear in, Open Book or Word, but I
thought it worth a try. So I launched Open Book. Then I cycled back to
Word and tried again. But again, nothing at all happened. The scanner
didn't crank up and begin scanning. All that happened was that the Files
menu closed when I hit Enter on that item.

Does something more have to be set up for this to function?

Yes it is a command to scan some printed matter placed on your scanner. Art

Arthur,
,
I'm familiar with that item on the Word Files menu. Maybe I misunderstand
what its purpose is, though. It appears as if it's for scanning the
document you have open in Word at that moment. All other items and
commands in the Files menu pertain to the open document that's onscreen.
This doesn't make sense to me. Why would I want to scan something that
was
already on my computer, in Word? Is it a command for using open book to
scan something printed that's in the scanner, without first launching Open
Book?

I hope you can understand why I'm confused by this menu item.
Thanks.

Hi list. Can anyone tell me where on the FS site I can find the
directions on how to scan a document in word using open book? I can't
seem to find it anywhere, so help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
