Joel, There is a key combination for a JAWS dictionary of symbols from which you may copy the ones you need into your document. Unfortunately, I use it so rarely I don't remember what that silly combination is.With regard to your pronunciation problem, there is, I believe, a setting in JAWS whereby it will recognize languages, other than English, automatically.I hope I've been a little helpful. Sadly, what I expected hasn't come to pass. My attempts to produce anaccented lowercase a result in nothing at all, just like before I installedthe update. Yes, of course I restarted when the installation was complete, as instructed by the installation wizard. Could this be because my way of creating such characters is to use the Insert num row 4 command to get a list of such things to choose from and insert in the text? I haven't used the actual Word character function for years. It was difficult enough for me when I could see it, and with Jaws Inever could figure it out at all, so I really welcomed it when someone on alist like this told everyone about the Insert 4 deal. For comparison, I can and do create such characters when I'm typing an emailin my Outlook Express 6. Let me try that right here and see if it still works. I'll type the Spanish word for pharmacy with an accented a in thesecond syllable. or try to, anyway. Farmácia. yep. I got myself the a acutethat I wanted. In Spanish, it would now have the accent on that secondsyllable and the last part would sound like see ya, not shuh. even though Ican't figure out how to trick jaws into saying it right, at the moment. So Insert A still exists in this updated version. But it still won't work forme in Word anymore, which I think it used to do in Version 9 but gave up inVersion 10. Maybe I misremember?Any helpful information will be appreciated. yes, I stick with Word 2000 on purpose, for certain reasons, so if that's the problem, that Jaws 10 doesn'tfully "support" Word 2000, I'll have to let it go.
