The user interface for NIS 2006 is somewhat graphical and you will have
to use the Jaws cursor to activate some of the functions.
When you open NIS 2006, first maximize the window and turn on the Jaws
cursor. Then, go to the top of the window and then use the arrow keys
until you hear "Norton Protection Center". Then, press the / key on the
numeric keypad for a left mouse click to activate Norton Protection
Center.
Use your arrow keys to move down the page and you will hear information
about your computer's security. Near the bottom of the page, you will
hear a button or link for Windows update and then one for full system
scan. You will have to press the / key on the numeric keypad to activate
the full system scan. When the system scan completes, you can use your
arrow keys to navigate the page to see how many files were scanned and
if there were any problems.
One other note - if you open NIS 2006 from the system tray icon, you
will get a context menu that will allow you to run a quick scan and also
change options.
I hope this helps,
Ryan

How do I use Norton Internet Security 2006 with JAWS?
To be more specific, I am running JFW 7 on a 450mHz Pentium III machine
running Windows XP Home service Pack 2. I just installed Norton
Internet
Security 2006. I am having a terrible time with the interface.
When I press tab to get to certain links/buttons in NIS, and I press
enter
on the buttons or links Norton's response is either nonexistant or
extremely
slow as if my keystrokes aren't getting through to the program. After
much
trial and effort I seemed to get to the Norton Antivirus section of the
program, but I couldn't find a control to get to a full system scan
button.
That's not quite true. I did find that button once, but nothing
happened
when I tried to activate it. Then I got lost somehow, and I never did
find
my way back to that control.
Besides all these problems with the NIS interface Norton's response to
any
keyboart input is quite slow.
How can I configure JAWS and Norton Internet Security to play nicely
with
each other? How do I manipulate NIS's unfriendly interface?
