No Selected Item

At times, while reading a list of e-mails, I will be reading a message and I 
will be unable to move from that message.  After pressing escape, Jaws says top 
of window or bottom of window.  When checking the window list with f10, it say 
no selected item.  I end up having to close OE and shut down jaws and turn it 
back on.  Does anyone know the cause of this or how to correct it?  After 
exiting OE, there is no selected item on the desktop, either.
