Subject: New hardware installation and JAWS
I had to change out my DVD-RW drive, and guess what happened! I need to
reactivate my Jaws. The technician who replaced the drive informed me that
electronic activations can get messed up by changing hardware. However, he
did say that it usually doesn't occur with peripherals; usually,
motherboards and memory. Interestingly, it only affected my JAWS
activation.
The point is, I just want to let folks know this can happen. My machine is
a Del product. Whether or not the same thing can happen with other
manufacturers' machines, I won't guess. Please, just be aware that the
possibility exists.
I hope you find this information useful. By the way, I'm not trying to
start a thread; just sharing information.
