I would think the braces are needed as they are part of how GUIDs (Globally Unique Identifier, one name for that construct, the other being UUID Universally Unique Idenifier) are rendered as text. The folder I created has the braces and period and works. I don't see anything that jumps out at me as being wrong in your message.
