Well I set up mine on my own and it worked fine. Yes there are some parts of the screen it doesn't read, but once you get used to it, you know what it is asking and all is well. Like everything with JAWs it just takes a little time. Also, my use of it was with JAWS 6.2. I'm sure things have improved a bit since then.

I think one might need sighted help to set it up. I've heard it is accessible after you get through the initial configuration and setup screens which do appear to be blank to screen readers.I tried to get help setting it up on my computer but was frustrated. The pointer kept disappearing. Someday I'll find someone who actually knows how it works to help me get media centre working. I'd love to be able to use the remote that came with my Audigy 4 Pro sound card with it too but that is another access hassle. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)" <Ted.Lisle@xxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2007 8:23 AM Subject: RE: Media Center Are you saying you actually got the thing to work? Version 2005 looks like nothing but a blank screen. If Media Center (the app, not the OS)is usable, I'd like to know more, and would be willing to pursue it off list at tlisle@xxxxxxxxx However, I'll bet there are one or two others who are as nonplussed as I am. I'd especially like to know how DVD friendly it is. Now days we have old TV shows and movies in standard (4-3) aspect ratio, whereas most newer flicks will have a 16-9 alternative, something which neither Media Player nor Real Player addresses adequately. I've been giving serious consideration to upgrading an OEM of WinDVD, but, if there's another viable alternative, I'd like to explore it. I really liked it as it was much easier to use than Windows Media Player. I also found having the ability to read the TV schedules using JAWS and record programs was fantastic. peter----- Original Message ----- From: Cy Selfridge <mailto:cselfridge@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, December 31, 2006 5:11 PM Subject: RE: Media Center From all I know, yes, you have to have JAWS Pro for Windows XP Media Center Edition. Do not confuse this with the program Windows Media Center which can run under Windows Xp Home. The Windows XP Media Center Edition is just one of the several WindowsXP versions such as Home and Pro. It is getting harder and harder to find a new computer which is *not* a Media Center or Pro version of XP.
