on my machine
msn 6.2 still works,
but on other machines i help manage it does not,and no matter what i did,
it wanted 7.0 messenger
which they made pretty for those who can see it
with lots of buttons,
so,
on two of them and my own,
i installed windows messenger, 5.1
as a alternative to, msn messenger
which was a royal pain in the blank,
to get from windows update
because they want you to authenticate your computer to them
and i didn't feell like digging up my serial number to them
they do, allow you to down load without authenticating windows messenger 5.1
which i did,
and am able to switch between them
windows messenger is similar enough to msn messenger
the main difference that i see is that windows messenger does not have a
link to my email on the main page and have to use the file menu to go from
messenger to my email
some thing to think about anyway

Subject: MSN question with JFW

I just joined the list and have a question concerning MSN with JFW. To make
a long story short, I lost my MSN, which was 6.0 instant messenger. So,
thought I would just reinstall it. Well, couldn't do it because received a
message stating had to install the newer version to continue. Couldn't find
a cancel button or any way to get around it. When I chose no, didn't want
to install the sing in window appeared so thought maybe it would work.
However, when I tried to sign into MSN instant messenger was brought right
back to the upgrade to 7.2 which I eventually tried and found couldn't work
well at all with JFW version 5. Is there a way to either back down to a
prior version of MSN or make MSN 7.2 work or am I out of luck until JFW
makes it work from their end. Any help would be appreciated and I apologize
for the length of this message.
