Tom, You may want to turn speling and grammar checking as you type off.  I
do this.  you can hit alt. f I and then click on proofing to change the
setting of how word does it.  If proofing while typing is unchecked I think
you will get rid of the verbage you are complaining about.  You will have to
do spellchecking after you complete the document if that is a concern.  It
is worth a try as it can always be reversed.

I am becoming exceedingly weary of hearing Jaws say spelling error or 
grammatical error when ever I read a MS word file. These options are 
unchecked in Jaws verbosity but they occur anyway. I can stop it for the 
current document by going into Jaws verbosity and then exiting same but the 
next time I open a document the annoying announcements are back. Could 
someone tell me how to silence this?
