Tom, You may want to turn speling and grammar checking as you type off. I do this. you can hit alt. f I and then click on proofing to change the setting of how word does it. If proofing while typing is unchecked I think you will get rid of the verbage you are complaining about. You will have to do spellchecking after you complete the document if that is a concern. It is worth a try as it can always be reversed.
