Actually you can set this at home. You can have Outlook connect to your
exchange server using RPC over http and Outlook will act exactally the
way it does in the office.

Not quite true; you can do this without being on exchange if you leave
your pc running, and outlook running, while you're gone.
Otherwise, this is a good point, and the only other choice is to use the
web interface to your email account, and that usually gives you an "out
of office" capability for a message to go out.
As curtis pointed out, it's best if you set each mailing list to stop
delivering email to you while you're gone.
If you are on exchange, you can create a rule for each mailing list. In
that rule, once of your actions needs to be "stop further processing".
This will keep the out of office email from being sent for any message
handled by that rule.
