MS Essential

Hello
Can someone tell me how to go about getting this on my PC? Do I download
it, remove my old virus program and then install the MS Essentials? Will I
need anything else to protect my PC other than to turn on the Windows
firewall?
I don't have help so need to know that Jaws is going to be able to read all
I need to install the program.
