Kill Jaws is a desktop shortcut that invokes the XP system utility "taskkill" to forcibly close JAWS after a crash that results in loss of speech. Many times when JAWS crashes, an error message is displayed on screen which blocks JAWS from closing with the normal Insert + F4 command. Kill Jaws eliminates this problem by closing Jaws without having to respond to the error message. To create the shortcut, use the following target address:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im jfw.exe

Hope this helps.

I just had a JAWS crash, and Kill Jaws worked like a charm. Very handy when
sighted assistance is not available.
