Dan,

Happy to say, rebooting worked this time and allowed the hotkey to work in 
its new assignment. That's the first time rebooting has done the trick. 
There must be other things I neglected to do at other times that kept the 
hotkey locked up. But it's all right, now. Thanks.

Your hotkey may be hanging on because they are cached and you need to reboot
to release the cache.  Just a thought.
