Hi, chris, I use a hardware synthesizer too and the volume is so loud, I am
unable to hear jfw. this is not just in win amp.

Well, you could either pause the music, press stop or close the player
window or hell, if you're using Winamp, you can lower the volume of the
music without lowering your software speech. I use a hardware synthesizer
so this isn't an issue for me but I fully realize I'm of a big minority out
there.
Ok, if you're wondering how to get Winamp to act in the manner I described,
go into the preferences, plugins section and then to output. next select
the Nullsoft wave out plugin and tab to the configure button. next, make
sure that both the volume control enable, and the volume control alt.
setting method slow check boxes are checked. note that when using earlier
versions of some other plugins such as the SQR crossfader may give you
different results since each plugin works independently of the other.
This works for pretty much all Winamp 2.x and 5.x versions. Unfortunately
if you're using realplayer, you won't be able to get this functionality
since real player uses your default wave device. depending on how your
computer is set up, you could possibly direct JAWS's software speech to one
sound card and real player could work in the other. Either way, this is how
you fix volume control issues. Honestly, the volume control can be your
best friend if you learn how to make good use of it.
