Sorry if I didn't make it clear. When reading and when jaws encounters the half value, it will read as 1/2. So in my previous example of 4 and a half, it is read as 4 1/2.

Hi,
    Maybe if you went into the pronunciation dictionary and changed
the pronunciation of 1/2 to "and a half" or "one half."  Jaws seems to
be clever enough to pick up on when to use that, and not say it in
part of a date, like 1/2/09.
