Is it correct to assume then that any application that shows in the system tray
is running as a service?
Thanks!

The information was widely distributed on lists when the second public
beta came out. JAWS is running as a service when the "Start JAWS
Automatically box is checked and the system has been booted with JAWS
coming up that way. I.e., if you unload JAWS and then restart it from the
desktop, the program menu or the run dialog box, JAWS is not running as a
service.
