Freedom Scientific is advertising their basic training in Daisy format. Even
with technical assistance from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind,
neither I nor they could get this feature to work.
I can read the audio files in MP3 format--Winamp is invoked automatically--but
none of the standard navigation available in Daisy format is available when
simply navigating the files as MP3's. I do have the fast forward and rewind and
volume features in Winamp working but the speech compression and place marker
features, available in the Daisy format are of course not available in Winamp.
Question: Where and how are the training materials available in Daisy format?
I installed the training files from the Jaws 6.0 program disk. These are in the
training\enu file and the FS reader is on the desktop.
The instructions for using the FS Reader are indeed available in Daisy format
with all the navigation keys but there are no training files available here.
Has anyone been able to get this to work.
I read Chris' post and did copy the files to the training\enu as he recommended
and even put them in a Victor books directory on my desktop. Many other Victor
books files I have in that directory read in the true Daisy format but the Jaws
training files read only through Winamp.
I then uninstalled Jaws and reinstalled it and made sure the training files
were
installed through a guided install and still I can read these files only
through
Winamp but not with the FS Daisy reader nor with the Victor Soft software.
Sorry for the lengthy post but now that you know what I have done, Can you now
apprise me as to what I haven't done or haven't done correctly?
