Re: Jaws and Virus Programs

It is funny you should ask. I bought a second computer so I could work on
audio projects and be more efficient with my work. the computer came
pre-loaded with Norton Internet Security. Needless to say, Norton took over
my system and my superduper speedy computer slowed to a crawl and crashed
when going on the Internet.

I decided to turn to Craig's List and found a geek from a college near my
home to come over and take a look at my new system and the errors from
Norton I was getting on my old system as well. On Tuesday, he uninstalled
Norton on my new system and suggested I purchase a product called PC-cillin
Internet Security 2006 produced by a company called Trend Micro. I
researched the product and found that this has been the recommended internet
and system security product by CNet since 2004. Thank goodness I asked the
right questions as I took for granted that Norton was still at the top of
the heap. I purchased the product Wednesday and installed it yesterday.
Wow! It is much more accessible than Norton. Except for the initial
install shield activation button, I could read and install everything with
my screen reader. All the online documentation can be read with JAWS and
nearly all of the program can be easily configured with the screen reader.
If you already have Norton, PC-Cillin offers a $25 competitive rebate off
its already low price. With the rebate, PC-Cillin can be purchased
literally for less than $5. to receive the rebate, the product must cost at
least $25 before taxes.

My Norton subscription will expire in a few days on my old computer. Rather
than renewing, it will be uninstalled by my techie and replaced by
pc-cillin, which he describes as less aggressive and bloated than Norton
using fewer system resources.

Hi, Everyone,

My old computer had Norton 2005 installed on it and it was fairly accessible
with Jaws. The new one has McAfee (free for 3 months).

I would like to know which one you all think is better and do you have
problems using Jaws with McAfee? I can't seem to navigate it well at all.
I am using Windows XP Home and Jaws 6.0.

Thank you.

Katherine
