Well, I just didn't think that was how we were supposed to do it. It's not
as if it's an antivirus program and they're going to offer you new
modifications constantly, is it? Why check every day? Why not wait until you
hear an announcement that there's an update being offered, and an
explanation of what's new about it? There's ordinarily a matter of months
between these times, not something like a daily update. I guess I just don't
understand. But, as they say, whatever works for you, I guess.

Hi Daniel,

I'll maybe look for an update usually once or twice a week but there are
times when I might look at least once a day. I prefer this method; you don't
have to go looking on the web site but again that's just a personal
preference of mine. I think it was about 3 weeks ago when I found the latest
update version 8, 0, 1163, I got it by checking for updates, I did this
before I opened my mail that day.

Hi Hal,

I have no answer for your question, but I'd like to know something. How
often do you do this? My own practike is to go to the FS site and download
an update to my current Jaws version only when an FS newsletter or word of
mouth (i.e., talk on this mailing list or another I'm on) says that there's
an update, usually months apart. I wasn't aware that the program might be
updated every so often without anyone knowing about it, and to just check
periodically the way you do. Could you explain your personal approach?
Maybe I could learn to update more often? Just checking.

Thanks.

Hi to all on list,

At times when I go to check for updates under help, I hear no message
spoken, not even the prompt telling me to "Please wait while Jaws checks for
updates, this may take several minutes." it just sits there or seems to. But
when I read dialog box using insert B, the message is there; it doesn't go
away until I push alt f4. Anyone else notice this; it happens mostly at
night time I find.

Hal
