        Hi all,
Thanks for the ideas.
I also thought maybe a full delete and re-install of the program might fix
things but not the case. A brand new install on a computer not previously
loaded with jaws resulted in the same behavior.
As Karl indicated, which I failed to mention, the crashing occurs at the url:
http://www.optionsxpress.com/
only when you log in (info not provided :) or enter a stock ticker on the
main page.
I don't think it is a flash issue but am concerned about the potential xp
pro conflict. From a networking perspective XP pro is better than home and
is what I need to use for professional reasons. If it is in deed a problem
with Pro, it is weird that jaws version 5.0062 works fine and v6.0 is
choking, as both are operating in the same XP pro environment.
Since I don't have XP home, I cannot try the same test between OS's.It
seems however that a simple solution of Pro being the problem cannot be
correct. It must be something in the interaction of v6.0 and the
OS. Given the proliferation of XP Pro boxes in non-home settings, it
seems like something JFW needs to fix under the hood (as we're not going to
get MS to fix their OS).
I'm still in the same position though and want to fix these issues. Any
further suggestions on the previously mentioned problems?
Thanks in advance,
Nick
*** original message ***Hi list,
I have looked, albeit not exhaustively, at recent messages and these
questions have not been addressed. My apologies in advance if these matters
have already been discussed.
I have tried upgrading jaws 3 times since v5.0062 and each time the
problems seem to increase for me. V6.0 has been the most buggy and the
following 3 issues are the most frustrating.
1. Jaws reliably crashes IE when I go to the website of my online broker:
http://www.optionsxpress.com/
I get the error: "Internet explorer has experienced a problem and needs to
shut down." If I don't dismiss the error message immediately, Jaws becomes
very unstable and crashes the computer. This reliably happens on 3
computers, all running xp Pro. If I shut down v6.0 and start v5.0062 before
entering the URL, everything is fine. Given that my accounts are access
through this website and that, in my opinion, it is the best online
brokerage for derivative trading, I am not willing to simply use another
online trading service. Does anybody have an idea of what might be
happening and does this URL crash IE with jaws v6.0 on your computer? The
next 2 problems are less reliable, e.g. they don't occur every time with
each of the computers, which makes it harder to diagnose but they seem to
always happen on my laptop under v6.0.
2. Many webpages become "stuck," so I cannot go back with the alt+left
arrow or enter another URL in the address bar. Once again, if I unload 6.0
and start up 5.0062, the problem disappears.
3. The find command in IE using 6.0 doesn't seem to work correctly. When I
search for something, e.g. the word "description" on an Ebay product
webpage, it claims there are no instances of this word on the page. But,
the word is in fact there and searched for and found without problem by
v5.0062. What gives?

If anybody can suggest anything I can try in terms of settings or other
tweaks, I would be appreciative. I would like to use some of the features
of the latest JFW product, and it seems silly that I need to continually
use a version of the program that is 3 or more iterations older than the
current version but it is the only thing that I have found to work.

Thanks in advance,
Nick
