Hi,
If that process were made more simple, more could use it. Thanks for your
post as that info just killed my idea of using
the thumb drive to access computers in libraries when traveling.
Hope the thumb drive option is improveddownt heroad.

In reading the material on the link that Mike sent, it's sort of a mixed
bag as far as usefulness. To make it fairly portible, you would need
your authorization on the dongle. In order to use it from computer to
computer, each computer would need to have two USB ports available. I
don't know if you could use a mini two port hub for this to cut down on
machine ports or not.
You can only use this version on Windows 2000 or XP machines and you
would first have to download two files, the video intercept manager and
the dongle manager from files that you could carry on your thumb drive.
It sounds as if the synthesizer would have to be loaded on the computer
instead of the thumb drive too. Although, that may only apply to
synthesizers in addition to Eloquence.
So it's not as good or as bad as first and second thought.

I'm having trouble imagining the practical scenarios for this thumb
drive.
I hopefully thought it meant what an earlier poster was hoping, that
you
could travel without your own computer and temporarily install Jaws on
other
peoples' machines (I imagined something like a limit in terms of days
or
hours of usage, not the demo mode). But if the other machine has to
have an
authorization on it, wouldn't that imply that it also had *Jaws* on it
already? In which case, of what value would the thumb drive deal be?
No, I
haven't yet been to the site to see the explanation there, but I'm
skeptical
that a question as basic as mine is addressed. I presume that others
know
exactly what the meaning of all this is, but I can't figure out what's
being
described. And I don't understand what dongles are for, either. I
thought
they were for a similar purpose. To temporarily install jaws on a
computer
not your own.
If this is really clearly explained online, someone just please tell me
and
I'll be glad to go there later.
Thanks.

According to the thumb drive FAQ, you need at least 128 MB free on the
thumb drive. If the computer onto which you are putting JAWS is not
already authorized to run JAWS, the 40-minute demo will run.

I'm interested in this option for use at home.
