yes, their one in the same.

in addition A M D does not offer a similar function.

the decrease to non multi threaded apts is only one or 2 percent and the up 
side may be 8 or9 percent improvement.
depending on what degree multi threading is incorporated into the program.

the real multi threaded dual processors offer the end user the best hope 
for drastic improvement.
apts on a dual system may have 50 percent improvement with well designed 
applications.

unfortunately few apts support it making dual systems not a good value for 
most of us.

more than likely the zipper performance you experience with the 3.4 intel 
is due to its large cache, bigger than the A M D processor.

realize the more in cache the less swapping is needed, and cache memory is 
always faster than info on the hard drive.
