Anthony, Okay, thanks. TSN? Those initials stand for a bulletin? Why not TSB? Never mind. It's a weird world, I guess. Thanks again. Maybe it stands for technical service upport notice, or notification? Who knows. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony P Schnurr" <aschnurr@xxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 1:17 PM Subject: Re: JFW 8.0.1163 A TSN is a Technical Service Bulletin. There may be more than 1 way to get to them but an easy way to get to the JAWS specific bulletins is to go to Jaws Headquarters and find the Support notices and FAQ link. From there find the Get bulletin for JAWS button and you will be presented with a list of all the JAWS TSNs. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a PRIVATE message. As far as how my own XP home SP 2 system is set up, there's no one here but me, and I installed Jaws myself. I can't remember the installation procedure, but I think it offers a choice at one point to install under one of several categories, and maybe I chose All Users at that point? Just don't remember. I'm not shown anywhere as "owner" on my PC, but I think it's generally running under Administrator. Yes, I heard somewhere that this makes you more vulnerable to attacks by the Jihadist hackers or something, but I'm not experiencing any outside attack problems, so far. One question: What is the area of the FS site to which you're referring as TSN? What does that stand for? I might like to get into the habit of surfing it now and then, myself. Thanks. I didn't have this problem either. I only knew about it since I occasionally check for recent TSNs so I can keep up with what FS has solved. Note, your user path depends on the way users are set up on your PC. Many times it is owner under Win XP, however, it could be what ever either you or an administrator had set up as your Windows user name. Hope this helped. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a PRIVATE message. I have a question. Though I'm using the referenced recent Jaws update, I haven't encountered this problem. I would like to be sure there's no need for me to delete any files to make sure this doesn't happen to me in the future, though. So I looked in my c:\Documents and Settings folder (I've never adopted the habit of using the Start menu Explore My Settings approach, though I'm not criticizing it) and looked in the FS/Jaws 8/settings/enu folder under the Administrator, All Users, and Default User folders for default.jss and default.jsb Note: This question won't be easy to follow for anyone who doesn't use Windows Explorer to go to these application data folders) The only place I found these files was under All Users; in Default user, I didn't even find a Freedom Scientific folder under Application Data. Fine. Under Admin, I found only default.jcf. Only under All Users did I find the full range of default files, including the ones referenced in relation to this issue. So, would this mean that for some reason, the way I have this computer set up, I'm not in any danger at all from this problem? Does the term Personal User refer to what I see in the folder tree view as Default User? In other words, am I okay on this? Thanks to anyone who can either reassure me that I don't need to do anything or, if appropriate, caution m to delete those two files from All Users, even though I don't seem to have a problem? Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony P Schnurr" <aschnurr@xxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 10:33 AM Subject: Re: JFW 8.0.1163 Boris, FS has a TSN covering this issue at: http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=1175 It will walk you through the steps on how to remove a default script file from your personal settings folder.
