Sorry, I meant to say the function key, not the applications key.

With the laptop configuration, caps lock + I reads current line: caps lock +
H reads current sentence: with K current word: with J previous word and with
L next word. Turn on keyboard help with insert + 1 and play around. To turn
off keyboard help press insert plus 1 again. To use the caps lock key press
it twice quickly. Twice again to turn caps lock back off. By the way, most,
if not all, of the desk top commands will still work. It can be awkward, but
all the laptops I’ve seen have a numpad built in. The computer should have
an applications key, usually the left most key on the bottom row, probably
below the left shift key. Hold this down and then try the right hand keys
from m through slash: J through semicolon: U through P: and 7 through zero.
Applications key with I is generally the five key. This should give you the
JAWS reading numpad, not the data entry numpad. Some where on the top right
will be the numlock key. Again use keyboard help to try and figure this out.

Good luck!

Oh dear, I hate to hear that!

So, Gene have you come up with a solution? In other words, how are you
dealing with the problems?

FYI: I have tried using the laptop configuration, and made sure all
settings are appropriate. Unfortunately there is no improvement, so I'll
just have to get used to the laptop configuration for a while. I need to
learn how to navigate the screen with this set up. It is really frustrating
that I can't read current characters, lines, etc.

I will contact FS next week to see if they have any recommendations. Thanks
everyone for trying to help.

Katrina

I have noticed that JFW has a problem with the Sony keyboard driver period.
My new vaio desktop keyboard doesn't respond correctly either. When I
contacted SF support they said they were aware of the problem and were
looking in to it.
