I did try the merge feature. My advice, in short, is not to bother. As Jack and others here can attest, merge tends to make JAWS 6.0 quite sluggish. Not to mention which, not all the settings take properly. The best thing to do is calibrate JAWS by hand. You can save yourself some trouble if you copy the file default.jdf to a place where you can get at it and drop it back in the proper place when you install JAWS. The reason is that default.jdf is your JAWS dictionary file and this will save you the trouble of having to re do all your dictionary entries by hand afterward.
