To remove all traces of jaws 4.51 from the registry, do the following:
1> open the start menu,
2> press r for run,
3> type regedit and press enter.
4> press left arrow to make sure you are at the top of the tree. when you
get to the top of the tree, you will hear the words my computer closed.
5> press ctrl+f to open the find dialog and type jaws 451 and press enter.
when this set of characters has been found, press delete and answer yes to
the question of whether or not to delete.
7> press f3 and hit delete and answer yes at the next instance of the
string.
do this till you hear a dialog telling you that the registry search has
completted. Restart the pc and you should be able to install jaws.

In answer to whether or not I've tried removing it from the add/remove
panel, I get the same result as I would when I try to run the maintenance
wizard. And in response to David's advice, how would I remove it form the
registry? How do I go about doing that? Could you talk me through it?

Lorieal,
In addition to removing the jaws folder, you will need to remove any jaws
451 entries from the registry so that you can re install jaws.

Subject: JAWS4.51.131
I went to run the installation maintenance wizard for JFW4.51, and it keeps
saying "An Installation File Could Not Be Installed. The parameter is
incorrect." But it says that whenever I go to uninstall Jaws completely as
well. I had previously installed the patch to upgrade from 4.51.119 to
4.51.131. The only other option I have maybe if it would even work, is to
delete the Jaws folder from my pc thereby uninstalling it, or would that not
uninstall it? I can get around enough to reinstall if the deletion of the
folder would successfully remove JFW from my system, but don't want to try
it unless it would work. Can anyone tell me whether deleting the file folder
would completely uninstall it from my system or are there files placed
somewhere else in my system as well? Thanks!
Loreal
