JAWS under 64-bit Windows

hi,
even if you have a 64-big type processor and you install a 32-bit OS on it,
jaws 8.0.423 or any others version of jaws still can
work on it. what i'm concern now is, a 64-bit processor with 64-bit OS, i don't
think jaws or any others screen reader can support
it.

Regards,
Allan Wong

Hi there,
That's because these x97 processors
essentially use 64-bit extension to their 32-bit instructions. This is
called Long Mode where 64bit srograms, as well as 32-bit programs can run,
although a bit slower.
There is Legacy Mode where the processor will act like a traditional 32-bit
CPU. What exactly do you have - Windows XP Pro x64 Edition or a 32-bit
Windows XP?
Cheers,
Joseph
