Two thoughts.

First, buying JAWS in order to learn a language would be a very expensive
way to go.

Second, perhaps one way you, Mostafa, could get at your survey question is
to ask how many JAWS users also have Magic, the application for people with
some but limited vision. FS used to sell the two products separately, and
perhaps they still do, even though both are distributed on the same CD.
However, your source for this data would be FS, and as a privately-held
company, I expect they'd deem such information proprietary, as in secret.

Mostafa,

That's a very interesting perspective. I had not thought about this
application for JAWS, especially for a person who does not speak the
language being displayed.

I know that Dan Clark is sighted, but I do not know if he uses JAWS because
it is his job, or because he would use it if he did not work for Freedom
Scientific. I think the latter choice is less likely.

I am not sure how many sighted users would pay the money for JAWS for the
application you suggest, but I would guess that the number of those are very
small compared to the partially-sighted and blind community who use JAWS as
a means to be more on par with their sighted peers.

Again I hope you are able to make good use of your ideas, but if you are
wanting to know how many sighted users there are for JAWS, then petitioning
this list may not be a statistically valid population. I think there is a
significant bias on this list toward those who have limited or no sight at
all.

Hello mister Dave: first of all: I appreciate your responds to me; I
experienced various positive associations from you. as all we know that's
Dan Clark for instance who is essentially the initial representative of the
regular updated JAWS training materials is completely a sighted guy; isn't
he? and I think that's he is very creative user of JAWS. what I really
wanted to say at this point: that's JAWS and it's related products is not
entirely an private stufff for those who are visually impairment computer
users; I believe that's JAWS could be used as an principal and SPECTACULAR
educational instrument to teach the correct spoken tongue for nun native
speakers. and that's precisely what JAWS has done for me. I wish to hear
from you about this particular issue. I believe that's our adaptive
technologies has been invented to get us out of any imprisonment conditions.
I know that's the subject is not listed in the discussions herein; I
apologize to it's moderators; owners and members. Mostafa Almahdy. Egyptian

That would be very hard data to gather. Even if you had some responses on
this list, you would not know what percentage of the total JAWS population
they represented.

If you're interested in trying to gauge what type of training to develop,
based on the partial vs. total blind community, I can understand your need
for that. However I believe it's also data that you cannot get from any
other institution, even if they had it. There are some privacy issues that
shelter that specific information.

Perhaps there are some numbers you can get from governments, but I don't
think it would be so specific as to tell who uses JAWS, and who does not.

When I worked for another company years ago and I volunteered for a
committee for disabled employees, there was no legal way to find out how
many of each disability worked for the company due to those protections. All
we knew were those who stepped forward and self-identified. But with that we
could not quantify any percentages.

Good luck to your endeavor.
