Try setting your number processing to single digits. It won't be perfect,
but, perhaps, a little less frustrating.

Subject: JAWS reading phone numbers; was: New JAWS Update Now Released

Hi Mike,

Yes, I do definitely have number processing controlled by synthesizer.

This issue has been discussed here before. However, for the benefit of
those who may be relatively new to this list, I will explain the situation.

In all earlier versions of JAWS, right up till the third build of JAWS
9, telephone numbers were read as follows with number processing controlled
by synthesizer:

For example, the phone number 416-702-5098 was read as:

four one six seven o two five o nine eight

However, that same phone number is now read as follows:

four hundred sixteen seven hundred two fifty ninety eight

Several of us contacted FS about this. Finally, someone there admitted
that they did change the way phone numbers are read and, in fact, that
person, who is also a JAWS user herself, said she was also trying to get
them to change it back to the way it used to be or, at least, give us the
option to have it whichever way we as individual users want it.

I hope this explains the situation better.

    Thanks,

    Don
