That is so crazy. Thank God or some one that I do not run into this. I am always running between 4 and 5 programs at once. What does happen some times is that jaws reads each word as gibberish when I am creating an email message. I am using jaws 11 and outlook 2003. If I tab away and come back to the message it will then read properly. Any ideas as to what that is about? P.S. Keep up the humorous text, please! I love it. It makes me want to meet you all as you seem like a lot of fun as well as good techies. Following directions given a long time ago on this list, I put that icon in my desktop. It is the only icon whose name begins with k. So when JAWS disappears and wont' come back, I press Window-m to get focus into the desktop, press k, then enter. In my case, it brings up JAWS speaking the message asking if I'm sure I want to close JAWS. I press escape, and I'm back in business. Note that often I've tried to close JAWS with a view to reopening it, so that may explain why this message appears. But it isn't spoken until I've gone the "kill JAWS" route. As you can tell, I'm skipping past the important step of how you create "kill JAWS." If no one else follows up, I'll try to reconstruct it. However, Dave and others are much better at tech questions than I am, so I'm hoping they will provide the explanation they're more qualified to give. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of The Scarlet Wombat Sent: Sunday, June 13, 2010 11:50 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: JAWS continuing to talk Dorothy is correct. I use Jaws 9 with XP Pro and it is an occasional problem with that, and was with v8 and v7. I never associated it with white print on a black background, but that might be a factor. I usually just press the power button for six seconds and reboot things when it happens as no other key combination will work at all. It is as if Jaws possesses every bit of the machine.
