Hi there and list,
I agree with your friend about resource usage. Home Basic uses fewer resources than Home Premium, and Vista Business uses fewer resources than Ultimate. According to review that I've read (including Paul Thurott's Supersite for Windows), many people suggest that you DO NOT get Home Basic. From what I've read, Vista Home Basic is worst than XP Home. I would suggest that you get either Home Premium, Business or Ultimate (Home Premium is equivalent to XP Media Center, Business is equivalent to XP Pro, and Ultimate is Home Premium and Business combined.) As for JAWS, I've tested Vista Ultimate with JAWS 8.0.423 and it does work under Vista (you'll need to adjust the theme to that of Windows Classic and set the display to Best Performance). JAWS does take some resources of its own, but it is better than Vista's hunger for resources. I would personally recommend Home Premium or Ultimate versions of Vista with JAWS 8.0 update. Be aware that JAWS under Vista maybe a bit slower than JAWS under Vista due to increased memory usage.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: JAWS and Vista versions

Hi, all,
There have been posts about various memory
leaksand we all know that some
programs and operating systems demand more of
a computer's resources.
So if one had an open-ended choice of VISTA
versions,
which version of
Vista Basic,
or higher Home premium or
Vista "Business" version would use fewer
resources?

I realize one would be usingthe classic
layout in any case.
I have to pick my "free Vista" upgrade
version and want to consider effects
ofJAWS et al.
(I realize I can't use it for 6 months as
MAGIC is being upgraded andI
often use MAGIC and JAWS together.)

Also if any one has any good points to
suggest between the versions using
JAWS, please feel free to write here or to me
privately.

One friend suggested the plainer or simpler
the Vista choice the less
"stuff" would be using my computer's
resources. (Hisw ords).
Many thanks.
