I agree with David. The card which is in the PC may not be producing a strong enough signal to penetrate what it needs to. One of the things I would strongly recommend is to be sure the antenna on the PC board is an external one. This way you could put on an antenna with a higher gain. I found that a 10 DB gain antenna was about the minimum to be able to communicate through most walls in most homes. SBC advised me that their router would send a signal 100 feet - but - you need to subtract 10 feet for each wall the signal must pass through. If there is a closet in the transmission path you had better subtract up to 30 feet at least. You might also try re-orienting the PC 90 degrees because the antenna transmits the signal from the sides, not the end. In theory, if the antenna in the router is vertical the antenna in the PC should also be vertical. Okay Hams, help out here a little. I am directly hooked up to the router. My wife on the other hand is hooked up via the usb wireless receiver, she gets maybe half the signal very low. Most things such as real time radio comes in very intermintally and even outlook is very slow receiving and sending email. Either I was going to try the ac networking or an in-between adapter to bump up the speed or a cat 5 cable. And we are only about 80 feet from each other but we have 2 walls between us. I think all we can do is to email SBC and let them know that their web site is not working to well for us. After you sign in there is a button that says feed back that can be used to get the problem addressed, maybe. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark DeGange" <gn2004@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2004 3:53 PM Subject: JAWS and SBC-Yahoo > Hello all, I've got a DSL connection with SBC-Yahoo. When I want to > log on, I put the Pc cursor in the edit box for my user name and then hit enter to turn on forms mode. This doesn't always work. When it doesn't work, it will throw me out of the edit box and into the check box to remember my ID on this computer. Also, when I want to sign out I hit alt+f4 which doesn't always work either. It gets me out of Yahoo and back to the desktop, but sometimes I am still signed on. I don't know this until the next time I get on. Apparently there's a graphic I can't see that shows whether or not I'm signed on and sometimes I'm told that I didn't sign off. Can anyone help me with these problems?
