I'm not finding a box which says show
mixer icon in taskbar. I did a quick check for tight connections, but
the last time I went under the desk to check connections on the
computer, I fouled up my telecommunications somehow and had to buy a
new answering machine. I don't have another pair of arms to assist in
checking which cables go where. I tried another set of headphones
before I sent my original post.

I have a SoundBlaster Live card if that helps any.

If you have a program for your soundcard look under there first or
under your
sounddrivers. which is in controllpannel system under the devices tab
then look
for your soundcard under sound video and game devices. check the box
under
there which says use only prefered devices. if you have a box which
says show
mixer icon in taskbar check that. It isn't something as stupid as a
speaker
being partially disconnected is it? How does other stuff sound from
your
computer? If connections are ok, do you have another pair of
headphones you
could try?
