Re: JAWS, IE7 and Hotmail

Peter,

Okay, wasn't sure. However I'm constrained by my IT person here at work to not
install IE8 for whatever reason they deem fit (it's their laptop, after all).
As for my studio PC I probably should go ahead and install IE8 some day, but
reluctant to "fix something that isn't broken". Still using XP Pro on that
machine, as well and it's running efficiently and with very little headache.

No I’m not saying that. I’m saying that if your having a problem with an
earlier version, try upgrading to the newer version since there is no logical
reason not to upgrade other than if your system is managed in such a way that
you don’t have the administration rights to upgrade. The latest build of JAWS
12 does seem to be causing a lot of problems and I for one am getting
frustrated so I’m not syaying installing 8 will solve your problem but it might.

  Peter,

Are you serious? Are you hinting that JAWS 12 is not backwards-compatible to
IE7?

IF you have that direct from FS then I'm surprised that they would drop IE7
so soon.

    Bill,

Not using Hotmail, but I've noted several occasions where opening a web
page on IE7 and using JAWS 12 results in a message to use Alt+Tab to switch.
I've seen other report similar situations on this list, as well.

Somehow JAWS 12 in conjunction with IE7 is losing focus when the page
opens, requiring us to use various methods (F6, Insert+Esc, F5, Alt-Tab,
Screaming) to get JAWS to focus on the web page.

Doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to know that it's very
frustrating. So I wouldn't consider your use of the favorites to be the source
of the problem.

Never saw this with JAWS 11.

I'm using JAWS11, IE7, and Windows XP. Since yesterday, when I try
clicking on my favorite in IE7 for hotmail, IE7 just stalls, and doesn't open
the hotmail page.

If I put in the address:
mail.live.com, the window opens correctly, and I can then navigate to my
inbox.

Once I had done this, I tried replacing my favorite in IE7, but this was
of no help.

When I tried using the new favorite, the same thing happened. The window
opens correctly, however, if I enter the address manually.

Does anyone have the same trouble? And does anyone know what the actual
problem is with IE7 and JAWS?

      Thank you.
